Mess Halls

What began with a few skateboarders in a Southern California coffee shop has grown into Mess Halls—vibrant digital gatherings that span the U.S. and beyond, fostering deep relationships and spiritual strength. While primarily digital, Mess Halls also hosts select in-person events throughout the year, turning online connections into tangible community. Rooted in the belief that life is filled with challenges, Mess Halls offers a shared journey through ancient paths and honest conversations—a place to find rest amid the mess.

Our first meeting was on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2020, which was sparked from being approached at the skatepark by someone weighed down with difficult life questions and sincerely wanting to know more about Jesus. How do we deal with life with God and with one another? How can his principles be applied to our everyday lives? Our invitation is simple: Let’s start by sitting down to study God’s ways, and then have some honest dialogue about how these spiritual realities impact our lives.

“The Mess Halls are raw and real. I feel encouraged and filled with faith by the teachings and testimonies. It keeps me grounded and keeps me on a closer walk with God.”

Carlos Ribeiro, Huntington Beach, California

“Mess Halls have been a breath of fresh air in the trying times we are facing. Their approach to the scriptures is unique and refreshing, with great insight and more importantly an amazing amount of grace. We are welcome to be ourselves and have a safe place to open up.”

Robbie Jeffers, Seal Beach, California

“I grew up in a Christian home but always found it difficult to relate to other believers as a skateboarder. I’m glad I crossed paths with everyone at Mess Halls and am growing in grace through fellowship that knows no geographic boundaries.”

Zeke Lim, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
